Inspired by the flow gesture of ripples at a nearby pond, this observatory serves as an organic conversation between the natural elements at Forest Park and the urban fabric that surrounds it. The flow gesture, this time conveying the flow of time and the flow of conversation, connects viewers between the natural elements inside the park and with the scenic view towards Washington University – when one enters the pavilion he or she would only notice the organic gesture of the structure, yet as one walks further and further down the path, they will begin to appreciate, reflect upon, and eventually, become enraptured by, the beautiful view overlooking Washington University. This observatory connects people with both the nature and the city, the past and the future.
